In your villa
Learn to roll fresh pasta, make ragù or bake schiacciata with a local cook in your own kitchen, then sit down to eat what you made. For special evenings, a private chef can prepare a seasonal dinner on the terrace while you enjoy the view.

Visit family-run cellars along the Chiantigiana road, taste Brunello di Montalcino and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano where they are made, and time your stay with the grape harvest in September and October.

From a villa in the Chianti hills, Florence and Siena are usually within an hour’s drive. Spend the morning at the Uffizi or in Piazza del Campo, walk Lucca’s Renaissance walls by bike, and be back at the pool by late afternoon.

Drive the cypress-lined roads of the Val d’Orcia, a UNESCO World Heritage landscape, and stop in Pienza for pecorino, in San Gimignano for its towers and in Volterra for alabaster workshops. Weekly village markets are the best place to shop for picnic supplies.

Head into the woods with a truffle hunter and their dog. The white truffle season around San Miniato runs from autumn into early winter. In October and November, visit a frantoio to taste new olive oil as it is pressed.

Southern Tuscany is wilder and quieter: bathe in the warm thermal waters of Saturnia, ride with the Maremma butteri cowboys, walk in the Parco della Maremma and finish the day on the sandy beaches of the Tuscan coast.

Take the ferry from Piombino to Elba for clear water, snorkelling and coastal trails. Or stay on the mainland and spend your days at the beach clubs of Versilia, with the Apuan Alps rising behind the sand.

Climb the Leaning Tower of Pisa, visit the Pinocchio Park in Collodi, explore Etruscan tombs or take a cooking class designed for children. Many of our villas have fenced gardens and pools, which makes downtime easy.

The coast is best seen from the water. Hire a private gozzo boat with a skipper, swim in coves you can’t reach by road, see the Faraglioni and stop for lunch in Positano or Amalfi before heading back at sunset.

Walk the Sentiero degli Dei from Agerola to Positano, high above the sea. Visit the gardens of Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone in Ravello, and take a guided tour of Pompeii and Herculaneum.
Sicily
Hike or take a jeep tour on Mount Etna and taste wines grown on its volcanic slopes. Then explore Taormina’s Greek theatre, swim at Isola Bella or take a day trip to Syracuse and the baroque towns of Noto and Ragusa.
