Podere dell’Orto

Nestled on the Chianti hills between forests and streams, there is an organic farm, with an historic wine cellar in operation since 1404. Halfway between Florence and Siena, this farm appears, in an uncontaminated landscape of streams, forests and ancient hamlets scattered on the hills surrounding it. It is an estate with magnificent gardens, forests and agricultural land that covers over 400 hectares on the hills between Greve and Panzano in Chianti. The heart of the estate is its renaissance villa, built in 1300 by the Gherardini family, and surrounded by gardens that fill the spaces between rows of cypress trees, vineyards and olive groves.

In the heart of the estate, on the banks of the peaceful Greve River, lies Podere dell’Orto, a homestead immersed in nature. Surrounded by a lush, natural garden, the little stone hamlet is ideal for families and groups of friends wanting the tranquillity of the countryside, and complete privacy. It is available for weekly rental. Podere dell’Orto, an old farm surrounded by fruit trees and once renowned for its vegetables. Settled on the green Montagliari plain, on a route enjoyed by hiking enthusiasts, Podere dell’Orto has been faithfully restored, retaining its original structure. The homestead is a picture of cheerfulness and tranquillity on the banks of the river, perfect for anyone who enjoys wide open spaces in nature

We had my 40th birthday parties and 4 night stay at Podelle dell’ Orto. Everything went smoothly and host Mr. G was very helpfull from start to finish. Private-cheff dinner was magnificient, night out in Florence will be remembered forever and padel-tournament at Sambuca was refreshing. Overall our 14 ppl group was very happy and who knows we will be back at Vignamaggio one day!

We loved our stay in the villa. It was convenient to town (Panzano) and the region was quintessentially Tuscan. The local wines were wonderful and the food superb. The villa has been completely updated and was very well stocked with everything needed to make our stay comfortable and trouble free. Eric was a very good on hand host and was available, as was the rest of the staff, to suggest very good local wines, dining choices, and to respond to any questions we had. He arranged to have a very extensive and Italian breakfast delivered each morning. It was very warm and humid during our stay and the air conditioning worked well throughout the “houses”. And the exquisite pool was oh so refreshing throughout our time there. There were 15 of us and the accommodation was perfect for our group. We highly recommend any size group staying at this lovely property
